Release my Passport, I'm not running away - #EndSARS Frontliner, Moe, Confronts Immigration

Attorney and #EndSARS frontliner, Modupe Odele aka Moe, whose passport was seized on the 1st of November by the Nigerian immigration services for unnamed reasons has taken to Twitter to request the release of her passport.

Recall that Moe was of huge assistance at the frontlines of the protests along with several others, providing legal aid for #EndSARS protesters who were unjustly detained by authorities.

She was however double-crossed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Sunday by immigration authorities when she was on her way to the Maldives through a Dubai flight.

The Nigeria Immigration Service has held on to Moe’s passport for a total of five days and has refused to disclose possible reasons for their action.

Note that the Nigerian government seem to have gone after notable front-liners who took part in the #EndSARS protests against police brutality in Nigeria. The CBN has also frozen bank accounts of individuals who managed the funds raised by protesters.

Moe’s Tweets read,

“Today is the 5th day that my passport is still being held after it was seized at the Lagos international airport. If there’s no no-fly list, that’s okay but why has my passport not being released yet?”.

Adding that their action towards her was a breach to her constitutional right, the young lady said, “Holding on to my passport without giving me any reason for it is a breach of my constitutional right. I’ve not been informed of any investigation against me, I’m not running. I am here. Investigate. Ask me questions but do not continue to hold on to my passport with NO reasons.

“1st of November, I was stopped and my passport taken some minutes to boarding this flight. No reason was given, other than “you are under investigation” today is 5th of November, I still do not have my passport back neither have I been told what the investigation is about”.
