Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole has stated that breaking the hegemony of the Saraki Dynasty in Kwara State remains his greatest achievement during his tenure as leader of the ruling party.

APC took over Kwara state after the PDP candidate, Honourable Razak Atunwa lost the Governorship election to the APC candidate, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in 2019.

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki also lost his re-election bid to the Senate in 2019 while Oshiomhole was National Chairman of the APC.

While speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, Oshiomhole said he didn’t take any decision while he was in office

He said his performance as Chairman of the Party should be judged by the electoral victories it enjoyed under him.

“At the end of the day how do you judge the performance of a party? You judge it by its electoral outcome.

“I believe it is convenient for people to point to a few areas where we had challenges, few states that we lost, but also there were states that we won,” he said.

For example, it does not matter what anybody wants to say, I (Oshiomhole) remain proud that we were able to recover Kwara State. That was extremely important to us for reasons I need not enumerate.”

Oshiomhole was removed as National Chairman of the APC by a court order as a result of a long running political war between him and Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.
