Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has lambasted the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, for failing to take definitive steps to protect his people against marauding Fulani herdsmen.

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen wreaked havoc in Guma and Logo LGAs of the state, killing more than 50 people between December 2017 and Saturday, January 6.

Omokri said that instead of taking charge of the security of the state, the governor was busy appealing for help from President Muhammadu Buhari.

The US-based pastor, who was Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media, urged Ortom to emulate Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, who ordered hunters in the state to attack any Fulani herdsmen engaging in open grazing in defiance of a law prohibiting the practice.

Omokri made this known in a tweet through his verified Twitter handle on Monday morning.

He said, “If you are from Benue and you ever laughed at Fayose, you owe him an apology. Herdsmen can’t kill Ekiti people and go scot free. Fayose wont cry or beg Buhari. The thing he will do to herdsmen, they will know there are Governors and there are Governors. God bless Fayose and Wike!

While Ortom, like President Buhari, is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti and Nyesom Wike are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
