A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri and vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. Doyin Okupe have taken a swipe at each other over the latter’s picking as running mate to Peter Obi.

It all started on Friday, June 17, when Omokri shared a YouTube video of Okupe’s interview with Channels Television.

Omokri captioned the video: “‘I Am Peter Obi’s Running Mate To The End, I’m Not Stepping Down’-Doyin Okupe”

In a reply on Sunday, Okupe said, “My very first statement in that interview, was that I was standing in as the VP candidate and elsewhere I explained that it is an open process till the substitution closes. RENO, this is cheap and mischievious.

“Labour Party eventually will field a Muslim from the north. End of story.”

Reacting, Omokri faulted Okupe for calling his post “cheap”.

He alluded to the 59 counts of money laundering charges involving diversion of N702million levelled against Okupe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He wrote, “I served in government with you. NOBODY ever accused me of stealing a penny. You were charged with 59 counts of money laundering by EFCC.

“If anyone is cheap, Okupe, look in the mirror! By the way, if you have issues with the interview, then face Channels, not me.”
