A woman in Bauchi, Habiba Usman, who was recently delivered of conjoined twin babies has become the center of attraction as many residents have been visiting the hospital where she was admitted to.

Habiba resides in the Ningi Local Government Area of the state and has been married to Suleiman Usman for a few years, according to Daily Trust.

Two years ago, she had a miscarriage and had only gotten pregnant again last year.

So, as soon as she began to show signs that she was approaching labor, her husband quickly rushed her to the hospital where she had registered for antenatal care.

Narrating the events that led to the birth of the twins, Usman said, “When we went to the hospital we were told to go for a scan and after the scan, the doctors told us that she had to be operated upon after which they were delivered with the unusual twins. Since their birth, people have been trooping to the hospital to catch a glimpse and the thing is becoming unbearable because we have to call security to control people. We don’t know how we can cope when we are discharged from the hospital.”

Also, Dr, Sama’ila Mato Jahun who performed the cesarean section through which the babies were born, stated that they decided to go ahead with the surgery when they realized that the babies were in an unusual position that made it difficult for Habiba to give birth naturally.

He said, “When a scan was conducted, it showed that they were lying in a position that will not allow their passage through the birth canal so we recommended a CS to remove them. In the course of the operation, we discovered that they are conjoined twins. They are healthy but they have only one stomach, four arms, and three legs. So their physiology is very delicate.”
