Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai

Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, has declared two options for the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, following the revelation of his Dubai properties estimated to be worth $1.5 million.

The human rights activist on Sunday urged the President, Muhammadu Buhari to sack Buratai if he fails to voluntarily resign from office.

Falana in a statement issued on Sunday noted that the COAS despite his brilliant fight against Boko Haram must submit himself to the fight against corruption in the country, adding that the war which has been declared on corruption by the Buhari-led administration is a must-win.

Falana further described the explanation provided by the Army as regards Buratai’s properties as a “cock and bull story”.

He said: “In view of the ban on the opening and operation of foreign accounts by public officers, the Code of Conduct Bureau should be involved in the investigation.

“If the Chief of Army Staff does not deem it fit to resign forthwith President Buhari should not hesitate to remove him in the interest of national morality.”
