Information made available to The Herald has revealed that the son of the ex-deputy Governor of Plateau State, Adamu Tallen was convicted for felony possession of cocaine in America as a student in Massachusetts.

Adamu is currently involved in a bitter lawsuit against his mother and the Inspector General of Police, asking the court for damages of N200 million for allegations bordering on unlawful detention. Now, whilst there is not so much information available on why his mother, the former deputy governor of the state and a respected academic, would use the police in order to detain her son, the revelation gleaned from reliable sources has thrown some doubt on the character of Adamu.

According to reports from Boston Globe, in 2005, Adamu Tallen was involved in a bloody brawl with one Andrew Bryant who was then a scholarship player for Boston College. Adamu according to reports used a 9mm automatic handgun to assault and bloody Mr. Bryant during their violent altercation which occurred in 2003.

The Globe reports, ” Bryant became acquainted with a convicted drug dealer, Adamu Tallen, who was found wearing a bloody t-shirt July 26, 2003 when Boston College police responded to a report of a fight at Rubenstein Hall. When Tallen saw the officer he ran inside his dorm room and attempted to hide a 9-millimeter automatic. A scuffle ensued between Tallen and the police officer, with Tallen spending the night in the local jail.

“Apparently, the blood on Tallen’s t-shirt was Bryant’s. The two had gotten into a fight, with Tallen pistol-whipping Bryant before threatening to kill him. A friend of the BC basketball player and the convicted drug dealer was forced to step in and play the role of peace-maker to prevent the BC basketball player from ending up in the obituary page the next day.”
