Mr. Rickey Tarfa, SAN, has presented before the court a fresh fundamental rights enforcement suit against telecommunications company, MTN Nigeria Communications Limited, for the alleged violation of his privacy.
The SAN, who through the suit is seeking the court to declare that his rights to privacy was tampered with, thus violated when the call records on his phone linked with the mobile number 08034600000 under the MTN Nigeria Communications Limited Network was allegedly accessed to retrieve information without his due notification and authorisation.
The records retrieved from his mobile number which was subsequently made available to Sahara Reporters and other online news media, according to Mr. Tarfa was without any reasonable cause or a lawful court order.
Mr. Tarfa also listed the EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, Mrs. Rashidatou Abdou and Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) as joint respondents to the filed suit in which he urged the court to order a sum of N5 billion be paid for the alleged violation of his rights.
