Mo Farah kept his bid for a fourth Olympic title on track as he coasted into the final of the 5,000 metres in Rio.

The 33-year-old has succeeded in the past four titles over 5,000m and remains the favourite to win a second gold in Rio after winning the 10,000m already.

He tripped slightly after being clipped by another runner on the last lap of the 5,000m on Wednesday.

He was quickly back into stride and ran comfortably with the leading pack to finish third in 13 minutes, 25.25 seconds.

Hagos Gebrhiwet of Ethiopia won the heat in 13:24.65 and Bernard Lagat of USA also progressed in fifth spot.

Kenya will have no runners in the final, but Kenya-born American Bernard Lagat made the final at the age of 41.
