Nigerian U-23 player, John Mikel Obi has opened up on what really happened to the Nigerian side in their semi-final clash against Germany on Wednesday.
John Mikel Obi while speaking on the failure of the country’s team to progress into the final stage of the Rio 2016 competition admitted that his team mates did not give in their best.
Recall that the Nigerian lineup against the German side missed two of its key players, Oghenekaro Etebo and Azubuike Okechukwu.
Mikel while speaking at a press conference said: “I wanted to win the gold medal, but the fact is that we did not play well today (Wednesday). The Germans played well.
“We are professionals, we can now claim third place and this is what we get. We want to give a medal to Nigeria. ”
