Mayowa Shukura Ahmed, who was diagnosed of cancer, is dead.
Prior to her death, Nigerians were passionate about saving the girl’s life as a controversial #savemayowa campaign fetched the family about N81million for her treatment.
Her story took a turn for the worse when blogger Linda Ikeji claimed that that entire campaign was a scam.
The Nigerian police had become involved with the case, freezing all the bank accounts and preventing Mayowa from travelling abroad, before clearing the case and dismissing the scam accusation.
Although details of her death are still unknown, condolences have been pouring in on social media with many berating Linda Ikeji.
