The First Lady, Patience Jonathan reportedly met with members of the Rivers State House of Assembly opposed to Governor Amaechi yesterday in Port Harcourt and Okrika.

Mrs. Jonathan is reportedly in Rivers to attend the wedding of a relation today.

The details of the meeting remain sketchy, but Mrs. Jonathan is believed to be in support of the impeachment of Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi by the group of rogue lawmakers headed by Evans Bipi. Bipi is a cousin to the First Lady and has been captured on tape referring to her as his “personal jesus”.

The crisis in Rivers State is expected to take a more fiery dimension in the coming weeks as Governor Amaechi who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress continues to speak against the Goodluck Jonathan administration and its high handedness.

A source close to the controversy told the Herald, “Recently several bomb attacks have been deployed against seemingly pro-Amaechi forces in the state including the Deputy Governor, Tele Iruku and the Justice Wali, who ordered Hon. Evans Bipi to stop parading himself as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“The battle for the soul of Rivers State is being fought tirelessly by the PDP and the APC, and the PDP is known to fight dirty in order to get what it wants. Amaechi is no stranger to that fight, however he is fighting the First Household. Patience is the President’s wife and a seasoned politician herself. Bipi is her in-law and Wike is a member of the cabinet. It will be a difficult fight to emerge unscathed from.”
