BREAKING: Rivers Govt release 22 ExxonMobil Staff

Rivers state government has released 22 ExxonMobil staff who were detained for violating the lockdown order in the state.

This was disclosed by Professor Zaccheus Adangor, Rivers state Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, The Nation reports.

Adangor who confirmed the detained ExxonMobil staff were released early Sunday morning further said the state will no longer be pressing charges against them..

The Commissioner for Justice said he monitored their release from the State Isolation Centre at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.

This is coming after Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN issued a directive asking all members of its staff to shut down all operations and activities at the nation’s oil rigs and export terminals.

In a statement issued by PENGASSAN,  all its members are to withdraw all forms of services relating to crude oil production, refining, distribution and supplies, commencing midnight on Sunday, April 19.
