Robbers Attack Banks In FESTAC, As Police Launch Investigation

The residents of 4th Avenue in FESTAC town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area were awoken this morning by the sound of sporadic gunshot from unidentified gunmen who reportedly robbed some new generation banks in the area.

The gunmen who were dressed in military fatigues stormed the area through a nearby canal in a speedboat.

It was gathered that the robbers blew up the security doors of at least new-generation banks in the area with devices suspected to be dynamite and made away with an unspecified amount of cash.

The robbers were said to have been given a hot chase by men of the Nigeria Police and youths in the area but managed to escape with their booty.

It is still unclear whether bank workers and customers by the robbers in the process of gathering their loot within the banks’ premises, but reports have it that some unidentified victims were injured.

The Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Yomi Shogunle, confirmed the incident and said that the police have launched full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the robbery.
