Robbers Steal N.63b From Popular Footballer’s Home

Burglars have broken into the home of Dutch forward, Memphis Depay, carting away valuables valued at €1.5 million (app. N630 million).

The Olympique Lyon forward was playing in the club’s 0-1 Lique 1 home defeat to Nice on Friday night when the robbers attacked his property.

Italian forward, Mario Balotelli player his first game for new club Nice and Depay had a quiet game in the agonising defeat.

AFP quoted ‘a source close to the case’ as giving the figure of valuables lost in the heist, although police have yet to confirm it.

The 24-year-old joined Lyon from Manchester United, where he scored two goals in 33 appearances, in 2017.

He joined United in 2015 from PSV Eindhoven, where was named the world’s “Best Young Player” by France Football in 2015.
