Russia’s Vladimir Putin Announces World’s First Coronavirus Vaccine

Russian President, Vladimir Putin announced that his country is the first to grant approval for a fully functional Coronavirus vaccine.

The approval comes just two months after human trials for the vaccine was completed in several researches funded in part by the Russian government as well as private collaboration.

According to Reuters, the development allows for a mass vaccination of the Russian population although final stages of clinical trials for the vaccine is still ongoing.

Vladimir Putin spoke on live Television, saying the vaccine was safe to use and one of his daughters have already been innoculated with the vaccine.

He also said he hoped the Coronavirus vaccine would be mass produced for the general public, praising Russian scientists for their ingenuity.

“I know that it works quite effectively, forms strong immunity, and I repeat, it has passed all the needed checks,” he said.

Although approved, the vaccine is scheduled to undergo a phase 3 trial stage involving thousands of participants.

Frontline health workers battling the Coronavirus have been offered the chance to volunteer for the phase 3 trial phase which is necessary to confirm the safety of the Coronavirus vaccine.

There is a global race for the development of a Coronavirus vaccine with more than 100 in various stages of development around the world.
