A group in the ruling party, APC Consolidation Group says President Muhammadu Buhari must immediately rejig the fight against insecurity by sacking the service chiefs.

The group stated this in a statement on Monday while reacting to the latest Global Terrorism Index (GTI) which placed Nigeria as the third most terrorised nation in the world.

It described the global terrorism report as a total embarrassment to the country and the security architecture.

The group said the president was portraying himself as insensitive to the constant killing and maiming of hapless Nigerians by continuing to keep non-performing service chiefs.

According to APC Consolidation Group, the service chiefs have proven that they have nothing new to offer and must therefore be replaced.

The National Coordinator of the group, Dr Usman Mohammed said the nation’s GTI ranking was particularly disturbing given the huge expenditure on counterterrorism operations.

“This report is the worst thing that has ever happened to a government that mean so well for the people like the Government of President Muhammad Buhari. No doubt, the rating is so due to the actions and inaction of his service chiefs. So,we are worried our dear president’s continuous retention of these officers.
