It is no secret what rift exists between the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi and the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The High Court in Kano has on Tuesday denied the application seeking an interim order to stop Governor Abdullahi Ganduje from interfering with the Kano emirate Kingmakers.
Justice A. T. Badamosi made this order in the ruling in suit no k/197/2019 filed by the Kingmakers of Kano State.
One of the implications of the ruling on Tuesday is that governor Ganduje is now vested with powers under the new ‘Kano State Emirates Council Law, 2019 which includes the power to dethrone any Emir found violating any of the provisions of the law.
It is being speculated that Ganduje may take advance of these powers as a tool to dethrone the Sanusi owing to the discord between them.
Various Nigerians have reacted to the ruling of the court.
See Reactions Below;
Sanusi should contest for president if he is dethroned. He has a better chance of restoring himself there.
Let’s see if Sanusi will give accept his fate or vacates the throne. Gandolla played the game well. These traditional institutions derive their power from the state government. That means the state has the power to alter, create or destroy them.
Nigerian politicians vindictive attitude. I pray he stays beyond 2023 as governor.
Sanusi is getting more than he bargained for.. Gandollar got no joy
The bullion van agbada man will surely use that power to dethrone his opponents.
