The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has pardoned popular actress, Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz, following their conviction by a Lagos court for violating COVID-19 lockdown regulations earlier in the year.

Recall that the Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Ogba in April convicted the couple for violating the Lagos State government’s directive on social distancing and sentenced them to 14-day community service.

According to a statement signed by the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, the governor also approved the release of 56 other convicts from various correctional facilities in the state.

He disclosed that Sanwo-Olu pardoned the convicts based on the recommendations of the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, under the powers conferred on the Governor by Section 212 (1) & (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
