Saraki: Police IG Refuses To Talk To Journalists After Meeting Osinbajo

1 Min Read

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, declined to talk to reporters on Monday after meeting Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Attorney-General of the Federarion, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and Director General of the Department of State Security, Lawal Daura.

The purpose of the meeting, which held within the Presidential Villa, Abuja, is believed to be connected to resolving the impasse generated by the police invitation of Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Also believed to be on the agenda is the withdrawal of DSS personnel from Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara.

Recall that the police had over the weekend invited Saraki for questioning after his name popped up in confessional statements made by arrested suspected perpetrators of the Offa Bank Robbery of April 5.

The suspected gang leader, Ayodele Akinnibosun, claimed to be a political thug of Saraki and Kwara Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed.

However, he denied that Saraki or Ahmed sent the gang on the robbery mission.

After the ruckus generated by the invitation of the Senate President, with many commentators alleging witch-hunt, the police instructed him to response to the allegations within 48 hours.
