SCANDAL: Adamawa Govt Distributes Expiring Baby Milk To IDPs, Prisoners

The Adamawa State Government has engaged in the distribution of baby milk due to expire this month to Internally Displaced Persons in Furore area of the state, the prison facility in the state as well as to the general public.

The baby formula which has been identified as Frisomum Gold Mild Milk is set to expire this January 2016, with manufacture date of January 2014.

Various groups and individuals in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, were seen rushing to the state Ministry of Women Affairs as well as the State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday and Thursday to collect the expired milk product.

The milk was dramatically scampered for at the State Secretariat of the APC by members, women and political thugs, who claimed they were given by the Commissioner to cushion the effect of the poor health situation at the IDPs camp.

The product was believed to have been diverted and hoarded until the expiry date came.

A visit to the APC Secretariat Indicated that cartoons of the product was freely distributed without minding the expiry date.

A beneficiary, Mallam Umaru Isa, said: “Oga, your so call expired FRISOMUM GOLD milk no be Nigerians concern.

“The milk no go get any effect for my belle.”

Also Bilkisu Sani Abass, a pregnant woman, said she believes in APC-led government in the state and does not see any reason why the officials will send expired milk to be distributed to Nigerians, “especially some of us who are expectant mothers”.

It was learnt that the milk product was launched for distribution since August 2015 by the wife of the state Governor, Maryam Muhammadu Umaru Jibrila Bindow, at the Specialist Hospital, Yola.
