BREAKING: NCDC Confirms Coronavirus death in Nigeria

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed the death of a Nigerian who died from the deadly Coronavirus disease.

The man aged 67 reportedly arrived the country from UK where he had undergone an undisclosed medical procedure.

Upon his return, he was diagnosed with COVID-19.

The 67-year-old man had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma, diabetes and was undergoing chemotherapy according to the Nation.

The Nigerian man will be the first citizen to die from COVID-19 in Nigeria.

This is coming after an American man who was visiting Nigeria from Virginia, US allegedly died from Coronavirus in Ekiti state on March 18, 2020.

The 27-year-old American who was in the company of his caregiver infected his Nigerian driver with the disease.

The deadly COVID-19 which originated from Wuhan, China in December 2019 has continue to spread like wildfire with over 220,000 cases recorded in over 30 countries within four months.

World Health Organization (WHO) has advocated social distancing as a precautionary measure in curtailing the spread of the disease.

In view of this advocacy, FG has banned religious centres such as mosques and churches from conducting services while public schools have been shut down to prevent further widespread of the disease.

Nigeria as at March 23 has a record of 35 confirmed cases of Coronavirus including the son of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
