Security guard steals boss’s N275, 000 in Abuja

A Security guard, Nweke David, on Tuesday appeared in an Upper Area Court, Mpape, Abuja, for allegedly stealing N275, 000 belonging to his employer.

David, who lives in House II, Ajaokuta Street, Garki Area II, Abuja is charged with alleged criminal trespass and theft by servant.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Edwin Ochayi,  said Mr Kingsley Edeh, reported the matter at the Garki Police Station on May 8,.

Ochayi told the court that the defendant broke into his employer’s office and stole N275, 000.

He said that during police investigation, the defendant admitted stealing a the money.

Ochayi also alleged that the defendant confessed that he sent N200, 000 out of the money to one of his friends who resides outside Abuja.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 348 and 289 of the Penal Code.

After the charge was read to David, he pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Hassan Mohammed, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000.

Mohammed ordered the defendant to produce one reasonable and reliable surety, who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

He adjourned the case until June 21, for hearing.
