17 years ago, when PA Celestine Egbunuche was involved in land tussle, little did he know that it was going to cost him his freedom for the rest of his life.

Meet the oldest prisoner in the Nigerian prison system. His name is PA Celestine Egbunuche.

Sentenced to life in prison within the confines of Enugu maximum prison, PA Celestine, who just clocked 100 years, has been in prison for 17 years and is set to remain there till death comes knocking.

The centenarian, who hails from Akokwa in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, was condemned to death along with his son, Paul and another relation, now 87.

Reports have it that they  were  engaged in a fight over a piece of land and someone’s life was lost in the process. With such fate, Pa Egbunuche has for over 17 years lived in desolation, despair  and hopelessness.
