Senator, 75, Declares Governorship Ambition

The senator representing Plateau South senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Jerimiah Useni has declared his to run for the governorship of the state in the 2019 general election.

At a time the “Not Too Young To Run” Movement is gaining momentum, the 75-year-old politician described himself as the most suitable replacement for the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) governor, Simon Lalong.

Useni, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made his gubernatorial intention known at the party’s secretariat on Wednesday.

The senator, who was military governor of Old Bendel state 34 years ago, said his desire to rule Plateau was to restore “peace and justice”.

“I want to restore peace and justice to Plateau. I want to restore unity, love, dignity and prosperity to Plateau. I also want to restore the vision of its founding fathers.

“Plateau belongs to us and our task is to make it a great place; that is what I want to do,” Useni said.
