Senator David Mark says Nigeria needs divine intervention

Former President of the Senate, Dr. David Mark, has spoken about the current situation in Nigeria, urging citizens of the country to use period of the yuletide to pray for the peace and unity of the nation.

The Herald gathered that Senator Mark said with prayers, commitment and honesty of purpose, Nigeria could surmount its challenges.

The senator made this call in Abuja on Sunday, December 15, while addressing Nigerian pilgrims to Jerusalem, before their departure to the Holy land.

The former Senate President told them to put Nigeria first, saying “the nation needs divine intervention to conquer her problems”.

He, however, reminded those in authorities to ensure justice and fairness in all their dealings, “because justice and equity promotes peace and unity”.

Senator Mark reminded the Pilgrims that, going to Jerusalem was primarily a religious obligation and not an opportunity to engage in commerce or buying and selling. He warned against absconding from the Holy land, saying, the consequences of such action would be unimaginable.

Meanwhile, The Herald reported that the senator representing Osun Central senatorial district, Sen. Olusola Adeyeye, disclosed that he prevailed on immediate-past Senate President, David Mark to reduce the running cost of senators from N20 million to the present N13.5 million.

Adeyeye made the disclosure in reaction to criticism directed at him for claiming that Nigeria’s 1999 constitution could not bring development and senators were spineless for not attempting to amend it.
