Alhaji Musa Ijakoro, the Serikin of Bwari, and the Chief Imam of Bwari Central Mosque, Alhaji Mohammed Mahe, have advised Nigerians to support and pray for their leaders.

Ijakoro and Mahe, who gave the advice on Tuesday in Bwari in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said that the prayers would help to engender meaningful economic growth in the country..

Ijakoro advised people who speak badly of their leaders to desist and instead pray for them to do well and bring about the dividends of democracy.

“I appeal to people of Bwari, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nigeria at large, to pray and thank God for their leaders, especially for President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Unlike before, people could hardly stay in markets, Mosques and other public places because of fear of bomb blasts, but thank God we are living in peace today.

“We must continue to pray and support our leaders so that we will continue to enjoy divine blessings from God.”

He also advised Muslim faithful to see non-Muslims living in their midst as one, saying “we are one; we are all created by God; therefore we must live in peace,” he said.

In a separate interview, Mahe admonished Muslim faithful to pray for peace and unity as they celebrate the Eid el-Kabir.

He also urged Nigerians to pray for their leaders and be hopeful that God would use them to address the lingering harsh economic situation.

“People should be hopeful in God and in their leaders; through prayers, we can all overcome the economic problems we are facing today.”

He urged Muslim faithful who had enough to celebrate the Sallah to share with people who do not have and to promote love and joy associated with the celebration.
