Former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mike Ejiofor has charged President Muhammadu Buhari to surprise Nigerians by sacking the service chiefs.
Ejiofor stated this Monday during an appearance on a Channels Television programme.
He said that changing the service chiefs in addition to tweaking tactics, approaches and equipment could be the deciding factor in overcoming insecurity in the North-East.

The ex-DSS director called on Nigerians to also change their attitude towards the security agencies.
“I expect that Mr President should take Nigerians by surprise, change the service chiefs; and Nigerians, their attitude to security agencies, should change too.
“I think by the change of tactics, equipment, attitude, service chiefs, and approaches, we’d make some progress, I believe very strongly.” Ejiofor said.

Recall that the Senate on three occasions in 2020 passed resolutions demanding the sack of the nation’s service chiefs.
The latest call came in November after 43 farmers were murdered in cold-blood by Boko Haram insurgents in Zabarmari, Borno State.
However, the presidency has maintained that only the president can decide whether or not to remove the service chiefs, saying that calls for their sack was “out of place”.
