Bandits attacked the communities as residents were preparing for evening prayers. They came heavily armed on motorcycles and shot at everything in sight.

According to several residents, people had to escape into nearby bushes to escape the onslaught by the Bandits.

“Upon their arrival on motorcycles, the bandits armed with guns, opened fire, shooting indiscriminately at any available object. Many people fled to nearby communities while some slept inside the bush that night.

“In Kasai community alone, two persons were killed and five killed in Nahuta community with several others injured,” a resident said.

Katsina state residents had staged massive protests during the week over the rise in attacks and killings.

This had promoted a response from President Buhari who ordered the service chiefs to do more than their best to end the menace.
