Sex Education Promotes Safe Sex among Teenagers

A new study has revealed that talking about sex with parents especially with mothers, promotes safer sex among teenagers.

Study Author Laura Widman of North Carolina State University and co-authors surveyed more than 25,000 adolescents to examine the effect of parent-adolescent sexual communication on safer sex behaviour among the youth.

The study found that girls and adolescents who discussed sex with their mothers have safer sex behavior.

The study also observed that these teenagers engage in more contraceptive and condom use compared to those who don’t have such discussion with their parents.
