The Founder of SheFootball Initiative, Ayisat Yusuf-Aromire, has urged football stakeholders to support the aspirations of budding female footballers in the country.

Yusuf-Aromire, an ex-Super Falcons player, made the assertion at the 2nd SheFootball Conference held at the National Stadium, Surulere in Lagos.

She said that lack of adequate support had hindered the aspirations and determination of young talents at the grassroots, adding that nothing was too small to encourage then in the sport.

“We have abundant talents in female football across the country but the main thing they are lacking is support.

“We have a lot of ex-internationals who can support these girls in one way or the other and that is what gave birth to SheFootball Initiative in 2018,” she said.

Yusuf-Aromire, who was part of the 2008 Olympics squad, said that the foundation would continue to support young footballers in various capacities.

She also advised the young players to shun acts that could tarnish their dreams and aspirations to reach the peak of their career.

Aisha Falode, Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League, who was part of the guest speakers, commended the founder for her devotion toward promotion of female football.

“This is what I expect from our ex-players, when you retire from football, you don’t get tired of football activities.

“This is Ayisat’s way of giving back to the industry that gave her the voice she is using today and it is very commendable.

“What she is doing will encourage our young girls to take up the game and begin to see football as a platform to be an asset to the society,” she added.

NAN reports that the conference had the theme, “Towards a Developed Women’s Football in Nigeria and the Yearning for Positive Change’’. (NAN)
