The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Sen. Shehu Sani, has mocked the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government over Zamfara Governor, Abdulaziz Yari’s comments that the bandits in the state were better equipped than the security agents deployed to combat their activities.

Yari, who is the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, said this in Abuja on Tuesday while fielding questions from State House correspondents.

The governor disclosed that his administration would not be dialoguing with the bandits anymore.

He said, “For instance, during the first dialogue, they invited some of our team, army, DSS, police, and my chief security officer as well as some representatives of traditional rulers and we have seen what they have.

“They are in control of the kind of weapons that the security command in Zamfara does not have. In one armoury alone, they have more than 500 AK 47 rifles. We saw it.

“Our people were even given the chance to take pictures. But when we said we will dialogue and offer them amnesty, if they surrendered their arms, they refused.”

Reacting, Sani berated the Federal Government for failing to counter the governor’s assertion.

Taking to his Twitter handle, the senator wrote, “For a Governor from the ruling party and the chair of the Governors forum to have openly revealed that Bandits are better armed than our military and without a counter from the FG, needs no further comment on the security situation in the country and the shamelessness of the situation.”
