Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has described popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi as “probably the greatest threat” to Nigeria’s unity and peaceful co-existence.

He stated this in an interview with Roots TV while reacting to the cleric’s demand for blanket amnesty for the bandits.

Recall that Sheikh Gumi also set tongues wagging during the week when he called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to pay the N100 million demanded by the abductors of the students of Greenfield University, Kaduna.

Fani-Kayode said he completely disagreed with Sheikh Gumi’s approach to ending banditry in the country.

The controversial ex-minister added, “I suspect his motives. I do not trust him. I do not believe that he can achieve anything with what he is doing.

“I believe that he is secretly and covertly empowering the terrorists.

“I believe that he is working with them. I believe that he is close to them.

“And I believe that he is probably the greatest threat to Nigerian unity and the peace of our country, even a greater one than Boko Haram and the Fulani herdsmen”.

He accused Sheikh Gumi of practising “stealth Jihad”.

“He’s very smart, very clear, and comes in like a snake pretending to be a good man,” Fani-Kayode said.
