Shekarau Denies Alleged Plot To Leave PDP

Former Kano State Governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has described reports insinuating that he was planning to decamp from the PDP as false and baseless.

He made this known while addressing journalists in Kano on Monday, where he said he was still a member of the party.

According to Shekarau, there was no reason whatsoever to leave the party for another party, like some were doing in droves, or form another party as currently being circulated.

The former Minister of Education however conceded that series of meetings had recently been held with the aim of giving the PDP direction and unravelling the problems that led to its defeat at the last general election, with the aim of providing solutions to them.

He said: “I, Sardunan Kano, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, has never participated in any meeting with any person or group of persons for the purpose of forming a political party.”

“The focus of our consultations and meetings with like minds was to ensure internal democracy, which will help the party to move forward.”
