A new photo of the popular martial artist, Jet Li has sent shivers across the globe after it was shared on the internet.
The 55-year-old Jet Li, who was photographed at a temple in Tibet, looked like a man 10 or 15 years older than his real age in the disturbing photos.
Long known for his boyish looks and captivating martial art skills, the photo immediately led to speculations that the celebrated martial artist was ill.
The South China Morning Post reported on Saturday that fans were “praying for his health” following the emergence of the disturbing photo.
His manager, Steven Chasman, was quoted by Washington Post as saying that the former national wushu champion was suffering from hyperthyroidism.
Chasman confirmed that Jet Li had been battling the condition for 10 years.
“He has hyperthyroidism that he’s been dealing with for almost 10 years. It’s nothing life-threatening and he’s dealing with it,” he said.
