Smartphone app “WhatsApp” made affordable

“WhatsApp” application being one of the best substitute to the popular blackberry messenger (BBM) has now been made very affordable to all Nigerians courtesy of the telecoms service provider, Airtel.

“WhatsApp” which virtually serves the same purpose as the BBM in terms of instant chat, file sharing, and lots more, can now be subcribed for on smartphones through the Airtel platform for just N100/month.

The Chief Marketing Officer of Airtel Nigeria in the person of Mr Olu Akanmu, spoke after a cross-promotion with WhatApp Inc., owners of the app, “We shall continue to push harder to realise our vision of becoming the most loved brand in the daily lives of Nigerians”.

To subscribe for the Airtel WhatsApp bundle, smartphone users are to dial *948# and N100 will be deduced without subsequent data charges for a period of one month.

In addition, customers that activate 200MB data bundle or more will automatically have access to “WhatsApp.”

Similarly, Airtel has been kind to the Nigerian users by allowing the usage of the blackberry monthly data bundle of 1G on the android devices, tablets and other gadgets with internet access.
