Social Media Erupts as Phyna Attacks Davido’s Aide, Leaks Private Chats with Israel DMW

Nigerian reality TV star and actress Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has sparked widespread outrage online after launching a scathing attack on Israel DMW, the personal aide to Afrobeats superstar Davido.
In a series of fiery posts on X (formerly Twitter), the former Big Brother Naija winner called Israel “a very useless man” and “a disgrace,” while also sharing private WhatsApp conversations between the two—an act that has sent social media into overdrive.
The situation escalated when Phyna posted screenshots of messages that allegedly involve Israel and his estranged wife, Sheila Courage. In the chats, Israel reportedly lamented the collapse of his marriage, accusing Sheila of betrayal and leaving without properly returning the bride price—suggesting, by cultural standards, that she remains his wife.
“Until they return my bride price, she’s still my wife,” Israel allegedly wrote in one of the leaked messages, expressing emotional pain and citing a breach of tradition.
The incident has divided public opinion. While some fans criticised Phyna for breaching trust and exposing deeply personal and culturally sensitive matters, others defended her, claiming she was simply revealing the truth behind a private fallout.
The controversy has taken on an ethnic dimension, with many expressing shock that Phyna would go after a fellow Edo State native so publicly. “She’s lost every sense of decorum. No Edo woman behaves like this,” one user wrote in reaction.
Critics have accused the reality star of clout-chasing, while supporters say she’s standing up against alleged emotional manipulation. As of Saturday, the matter continues to trend across multiple social platforms, with neither Phyna nor Israel DMW issuing a formal statement beyond the leaked content.
