Popular Nigerian social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), was arrested on Friday by the Nigerian Police Force at a bank in Abuja.
The arrest, which occurred at a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) branch, was confirmed by VDM’s legal representative, Denise Adeyanju, via a post on X (formerly Twitter). Adeyanju condemned the arrest, describing it as unjust and unwarranted.
“JUST IN: VDM arrested by the police at GTB. Spoke to them before he was arrested. This is absolutely unacceptable. Demanding accountability is not a crime,” Adeyanju posted.

In a follow-up message, the lawyer added that VDM was taken into custody alongside a friend identified as C Park, while his mother, who was also present, was left behind.
As of the time of this report, details surrounding the circumstances of the arrest remain unclear. The Nigerian Police have not released an official statement addressing the incident.
This marks at least the second time VDM has been detained by authorities. In November 2024, he was held briefly after honoring a police invitation over an undisclosed matter.
VeryDarkMan is known for his outspoken social commentary and activism on digital platforms, often addressing issues related to governance, corruption, and social justice. His online presence has earned him a large following — as well as frequent run-ins with both public figures and authorities.
