The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS 10, Sokoto says it is partnering with religious and traditional leaders in the state to ensure optimal performance.
Mr Olumide Olagunju, the Assistant Corps Marshal Zonal Commanding Officer, RS10 Sokoto made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto on Saturday.
He stated that the partnership, which would focus more on public education, would go a long way in ensuring the safety of road users.
“The approach from the religious leaders will greatly assist in educating motorists on the need to adhere to traffic rules and regulations,” he said.
Olagunju said he expected that religious leaders in the state would hold special sermons on the dangers involved in over speeding, buying secondhand tyres as well as not maintaining their vehicles.
According to him, the RS10 which comprises Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states has already partnered with members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The partnership, he said, involved educating members of the NURTW on the need to obey traffic rules and regulations.
He reiterated that the zone would not relent in its efforts to seek the support of all stakeholders in its bid to prevent road crashes. (NAN)
