Soldiers clamp down on bandits in Nasarawa, confiscates 60 weapons

The  Nigerian Army has revealed that its officers confiscates  about 60   weapons from both Bassa and Egbura ethnic groups in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Commander, Operation Whirl Stroke, Major Gen Adeyemi Yekini,  disclosed this during the signing of a Peace/Memorandum of Understanding by the two warring groups at Government House, Lafia on Tuesday.

He added that t soldiers also arrested many  bandits in  the area since   the OPWS  launched an offensive against  them.

Yekini told both Bassa and Egbura elders to  stop  their sons from  mounting illegal checkpoints in the area.

He also called on the state government to help those who were displaced from their  homes  following the violent  incidents  in the area.

Also speaking during the event, Governor Tanko Al- Makura   warned that the state government would deal with anyone out to  frustrate the peace efforts initiated by the state government.
