Soldiers deployed to Mallam Fotori in Abadam Local Government, Borno, for Operation LAFIYA DOLE, were conducting a routine patrol on Saturday when they ran into some members of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist group. It is said that the terrorists had intended to attack the station of the soldiers but things became awry for them as they met their match along the way.

The criminals were said to have proceeded for the attack with a good number of their men but the soldiers were more than ready to put an end to their progression.

They were savagely gunned down due to the army’s preparedness and availability of advanced firepower, discipline in their lines, as well as courage. The Air Task Force also joined the attack to provide an aerial advantage. Although some of the terrorists escaped after being hit, a good number of them were gunned down. After things settled, some sophisticated weapons were recovered by the soldiers.

Meanwhile about three soldiers injuries as a result of the attack. But they are currently under treatment at a hospital in Maiduguri, according to reports.

While speaking to newsmen after the good performance of the troops, Commander of the Sector 3 of the Operation LAFIYA DOLE, expressed his delight at the manner in which the soldiers fought hard to overcome the terrorists. He also mentioned that although the tasks of soldiers are difficult, they will not stop fighting the terrorists to keep the country safe.

He subsequently emphasized that the soldiers are committed to ending insurgency in Nigeria and their loyalty is unwavering. He equally urged that Nigerians need to keep supporting the military and make sure they report anyone with wounds in their communities to the nearest security agency.
