Soldiers pounce on killer herdsmen waiting to destroy Sokoto village

Gallant personnel of the Nigerian Army have busted a team of killer herdsmen attempting to attack a village in Sokoto State.

This was disclosed in a Sunday statement signed by the Army Operations Media Coordinator,  Colonel Aminu Iliyasu.

He said troops of the 8 Division under Operation MESA arrested two of the suspects, Sule Sale and Umar Alhaji, as the killer herdsmen made an attempt to attack Tara village in Sabon Birni local government area.

Others fled, leaving behind a herd of 110 cattle in the March 8 incident, Illiyasu stated.

According to him, soldiers mobilised to the village after getting credible intelligence about the herdsmen’s plans.

“In the Northwest region, on 8 March 2020, troops of 8 Division on Operation MESA acting on credible information on the activities of armed herdsmen in Tara Village of Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State, fiercely mobilised to the area, made contact with the armed herdsmen and arrested two suspects, namely; Sule Sale and Umar Alhaji, while others fled abandoning 110 cattle.

“Also, same troops conducted a successful cordon and search operation at Banji Village of Bodinga LGA of Sokoto State, neutralised one notorious kidnap kingpin named Juliet,” the statement read in part.
