The wives under the aegis of Military Widows Association have expressed their anger at the Federal government for releasing insurgents who are responsible for the death of their husbands and many other Nigerians including women and children.

Mrs. Edith Opesanmi, Vice President of the Association made this known at the ‘Support Our Troops Foundation’ seminar which held in Abuja.

She decried the decision of the federal government to replicate the Militant Amnesty programme with Boko Haram terrorists.

According to her, the terrorists should be treated as the criminals that they are and not enjoy preferential treatment knowing how they murdered gallant soldiers in cold blood.

The Herald recalls that FG has released over 2000 Boko Haram insurgents who have murdered Nigerians, beheaded Christians, kidnapped and raped young girls, carried out suicide bomb attacks with thousands of casualties through a rehabilitation programme codenamed Operation Safe Corridor.

However, this does not augur well for the military widows who believe their husbands may have sacrificed their lives in vain since their killers are walking freely in the society.

“They (terrorists) should face justice. You know they are involved in the killing and maiming of soldiers. So, whenever they are arrested, they should be punished like any other criminal.

“We widows feel bad about it. Our husbands go to fight these terrorists and keep dying. The number of widows is increasing daily. Some of these widows are young ladies”

Mike Ejiofor, former Director at the Department of State Services (DSS) also faulted the FG for the timing of the release of the insurgents. He stated that it was wrong of FG to release the evil perpetrators when the war against them was still ongoing.

Vanguard quoted Ejiofor saying “Ideally, it is after the war has been fought and won that you can release those ones that have been rehabilitated and deradicalized”

  • I’m still very surprised by the level of the nepotism and indulgence the federal government has shown forth from time. You’re fitting for the establishment of the Sharia law and also embracing the pardoning of the core enemies of our great country. It shows how preferably you’re interested in the killings of our men and women.
Strike the Shepard once , the sheep’s will scatter. What a silly politics are you people playing with the dear lives of Nigerians. Last year , you released one of them and has carried out several attacks on innocent people. That’s a disgusting load to bear.

  • Rehabilitating /recruiting them into the armies, so that they would serve as informants of the movement of the Nigeria armies to their fellows (Boko Haram). Or send them to election poll’s to kill, intimidate the people and hijack
the election for the favour of their party. So that they can achieve their evil agenda.

  • This government has nothing good to offer us. If you searching for why the war is still ongoing don’t look any further, this government is the cause of it.
Part of the reason why America blacklisted Nigeria is because the government are not willing to share information on terrorists activities. Who’s deceiving who?

  • It seems the FG doeant know what to do or they are interested in the on going insurgience in the country.
How come the terrorists are free while the war on terrorist is still going, if harm robbers are arrested government knows how to deal with them how come the enemies of the nation are free after areest without trial and discpline.
Our leader need to wake up and do the right thing without any prejudise and nepotism.

  • The National security adviser should come up with a plan to end this war. The release of bh is a slap against the Nigeria soldiers and to Nigerians. This is not childs play, so d government should stop this preferntial treatment. The blood of d innocent cries out to GOD for justice. Yes they can b pardoned by GOD after d sentence. A pastor and Imam can pray for them, while bng sentenced to death. The Nigerian court of justice should wake up to there responsibilities. This idea is not right. Criminals and perpetrators should b treated according to d books orelse there are plans to capture this evil guies in der shell. If there b, this kind of information shuld not circulate. It should b secret.
