SON Urges Nigerians To Reject Substandard Products

The Director General of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) Mr. Osita Aboloma, has called on Nigerians to reject substandard products in all its ramifications, as they have the capacity to damage the country’s economy.

Mr. Osita Aboloma, called on Nigerians to lessen the capacity to damage the country’s eonomy by rejecting substandard products.

According to The Guardian, he made this call when he was paid a courtesy visit by the Steel Manufacturers Group.

He stated that diversification to a non-oil economy is the fulcrum for industries to strive to be at their best, as the nation will depend more on the manufacturing sector for the economy to boom, adding that government policies are to protect local manufacturers from unhealthy competition and to ensure sustainable development.

Mr. Sunnil Goel, who heads the Steel Manufacturers Group, lamented the current economic situation which he said has affected them negatively, and pledged the group’s support and willingness to work with the SON, with a view to achieving the objectives and vision of the organisation.
