Sponsor of Aketi Bread comes out, says “I’ll do everything necessary to make APC win Ondo”

Mr. Dele Ologun, a stooge of the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for the November 26th governorship election in Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeedolu has come out to condemn the reaction of people on social media to what he described as his “kind gesture” towards the Akeredolu Campaign.

Mr Ologun, some days ago, distributed 400 pieces of customized bread to APC members in Akure ward 1 in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

Mr. Ologun had also donated two buses to Akeredolu to aide his campaign.

This news medium also gathered that Ologun had placed about 5 billboards along the Ogbese-Owo road in support of Akeredolu.

“The most important thing that we can do is do whatever it takes for our candidate to win”, Ologun said in reaction to the social media criticism of the bread he donated.

“My interest is about our candidate. Immediately I saw the bread online I was mad. Like what nonsense is this? Why people?” He uttered frustratingly.

“Some people have branded water, which is vital, what is the big deal in putting the name and face of your candidate everywhere?” Ologun queried.

When asked about the quantity of bread made, Mr Ologun revealed that a total of 400 pieces were made specifically for Ward 1 in Akure North LGA, which have since been distributed for consumption.

Meanwhile, while many supporters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) saw the resurfacing of the Aketi Bread Images on social media as a desperate attempt by the opposition to destroy Akeredolu, members and supporters of the opposition parties sees it as an opportunity to pay back APC supporters in their own coin over their condemnation of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose when he (Fayose) did a similar thing during his campaign in June 2014.

Take for instance, Ayo Olasoji, a member of the APC told this news medium that such a gesture is allowed in politics and therefore shouldn’t be politicized.

“What’s the big deal in trying to ameliorate the suffering of the people? Aren’t you aware that civil servants in Ondo State are being owed 7 months salaries? Aren’t you aware of the recession in the country? Why condemning someone that ought to be praised? This is an attempt to paint Akeredolu as a desperate man and we won’t allow that” Olasoji said.

But to Richard Akinpelumi, a PDP supporter, it is hypocritical for the APC to indulged in what it had earlier condemned.

Akinpelumi in a Facebook post lampooned supporters of APC for engaging in stomach infrastructure, a policy they had berated Governor Fayose for.

“They distributed Akara (beans cake) in Edo. Now, it is bread in Ondo. This hypocrisy of is legendary and I urge Ondo electorates to beware.” Akinpelumi said.
