Asogwa, a writer and entrepreneur, paid tributes to those who lost their lives in the incident.

She wrote, “I and my family used to worship at St. Teresa Catholic Church. I was in church on the day of the bomb blast. It’s a miracle that most of us survived and thanks to the security men that insisted that they will not drive in. Bro Peter was one of them, he used to be an MOD member.

“He was his mother’s only son and was let’s say mid twenties.

“Lilian Dike who used to be my friend was killed with her dad and three brothers. A woman came for omugwo from the village and she wasn’t spared either.

“Sylvia and Faustina Pius were students of my alma mater. They too died.

“One man in my mum’s prayer group died with his only son. Some were burnt beyond recognition.

“This happened on the 25th of December 2011 at Madalla Niger state. Yes, the mastermind was caught in a place everyone knows by now. And somehow we should act like all is well.

“Take out time to look into the lives of these people vying for political positions and if we are honest with ourselves, we know they do not care about us. 2023 is a fight for our lives and everything we stand for as a people.

“Taking outrightly biased stance will not help either of us.

“Leaving the country doesn’t solve the problem either. All of us have in one way or the other faced a problem or being victims of situations that a working Nigeria would have prevented. Choose your leaders wisely.”
