Stock Exchange Down By 98 Points

After three days of gains, the All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange succumbed to bearish sentiments as profit taking led to a 1.08% (98 points) loss after gaining 0.73% (202 points) yesterday.

The local bourse ended the day at 27,533.03 points, while Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.46 Trillion.

A total of 2,785 deals were struck today, an increase from 2,434 deals recorded yesterday, while the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 485,040,300 and the total value of transactions recorded today was N4.4 Billion.

MOBIL led the gainers chart adding N6.3 to close at N132.41 followed by UNILEVER and GUINNESS which added N3.5 and N1.75 close at N45.5 and N124.9 respectively; TOTAL and JBERGER added N1.01 and N0.45 to close at N148.01 and N37.81 respectively.

The losers chart was led by FO who lost N12.75 to close with a share price of N235.9 followed by NB and WAPCO who lost N2.5 and N1.99 to close with share prices of N113 and N90.01 respectively; 7UP and PRESCO lost N1.9 and N1.5 to close with share prices of N181.1 and N31 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were MULTIVERSE with shares valued at N73 Million, GUINEAINS with shares valued at N63 Million, UBA with shares valued at N102 Million, GUARANTY with shares valued at N513 Million and UNILEVER with shares valued at N1 Billion.

The market breadth close negative as 18 Gainers led MOBIL by and 28 losers led by FO.

The market year to date is 20.56%.
