Stop Lying; Jonathan Completed 85 Percent Of Abuja Light Rail – Dino Melaye Tells APC

The senator representing Kogi West senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Dino Melaye, has urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Muhammadu Buhari to stop appropriating to itself the Abuja Light Rail project.

The controversial senator made this known in an Instagram post on Saturday morning.

Melaye said that as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) he was aware of 85 percent completion of the project by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The senator said, “President Jonathan thank you for the Abuja light rail transport. As Chairman Senate committee on FCT i can attest to the fact that 85% of the job was completed b4 you left office. God bless Nigeria”

President Buhari launched the Abuja Light Rail project on Thursday morning at the new metro station in Central Business District (CBD), Abuja.

After the launch, the president and other dignitaries and journalists took a ride from the CBD metro station to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The president said, “This morning I formally commissioned the Abuja Light Rail System. The completion of this very important project is a dream come true, and clearly demonstrates our administration’s commitment to the realization of critical infrastructural projects.

The Abuja Light Rail project, which was conceived since 1977, is made up of 6 Lots.

President Buhari commissioned the Lot 1 on Thursday.

The Lot 1 consists of a double-track line covering a length of 45 kilometres.

But since its launch, the Abuja Light Rail project has generated controversies between supporters of the APC and the PDP in the country, with both claiming ownership of the landmark project.
