A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has ordered State Assembly member, Evans Bipi to stop parading himself as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Judge C.N. Wali, was ruling on an interim injunction which called for the maintenance of the status quo before the July 9th fracas which wrecked havoc in the House, leading to its take over by the National Assembly.

Wali ordered that Bipi refrain from addressing himself as the Speaker, allowing himself to be addressed as the Speaker, writing to any person under that nomenclature or acting in any manner as the Speaker.

The court also ordered Bipi not to do anything whatsoever to obstruct, hinder, prevent or disturb the Speaker, Otelemaba D. Amachree and the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Kwanee, in the performance of their duties in the House pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The court ordered the Nigerian Police Force to enforce the interim orders and to accord the Speaker and Deputy Speaker adequate protection to allow them discharge their duties effectively.
