A struggling Indian farmer’s life has been turned around after he found a 14.98-carat diamond valued at 6 million rupees, approximately $80,000, on rented land.

“It has changed my life,” the farmer identified as Lakhan Yadav, 45, told Times of India.

He said he started renting the land on which he found the precious stone last month for 200 rupees ($2.70) in Madhya Pradesh.

The land was later sold to another person.

Yadav told the newspaper that he nearly missed the diamond as it was buried among a handful of dirt.

On what he would do with his new-found wealth, the farmer said, “I will not go for anything big. I am not an educated person, and I’ll put the money in a fixed deposit to ensure my four kids get good education.”

Yadav explained that he has already bought a motorcycle, along with 2 hectares of land and two buffaloes.

He explained that he was very happy with his bicycle, and only bought the motorcycle because his family members insisted he did so.
